Chlorine is by far the most common pool chemical for good reasons. Chlorine itself is a hazardous product and should be treated as such. It should not be pre-mixed with any other chemical as that could lead to fires or toxic smoke that will burn your lungs. That aside, chlorine in swimming pools at the proper level pose no health risks to swimmers.
