Most staircase cracks and bubbling can be repaired by a specialist. Bubbling in staircases is caused from water getting in between the fiberglass and acrylic layers and de-laminating them. This condition causes blisters. These blisters have to be removed before the fiberglass and acrylic can be repaired. When a staircase becomes discoloured and has fine surface cracks sometimes the staircase can be refinished with acrylic and look like new again, however a staircase replacement is sometimes a better option.
